NEW YEAR’S CHEESE BOARD!!!!!!
Oh right. This is the blog. I only scream at you like that on Instagram.
Well, in any event, this board is worth screaming about on multiple platforms. It’s just that great. As a matter of fact, I’m going to go scream about it on Facebook, too. Because this board, friends, is also the key to making your at-home, pajamas-laden New Year’s celebrations feel as cozy and cute and festive as ever. It’s so quick to pull off, and super budget-friendly too (single-serving bag of chips, single-serving bag of popcorn, crackers I had in my pantry, nuts I had in my pantry, inexpensive sliced cheddar, and, okay, ONE fancy cheese).
More on all that below.
Truthfully, this is really one of those things for which you don’t need a tutorial. I am not going to infantilize you, my friend. You can do this. YOU CAN DO THIS.
But I foresee a few specific questions coming my way, so let me answer those before you ask ’em:
- Yes, those are thin slices of cheddar all done up with number-shaped cookie cutters (I have these 3″ ones)! But you don’t have to use cheddar—you can use whatever other sliced cheese you find out there. Pepper Jack, provolone, American cheese, whatever. Just cut out the numbers and throw the rest in a sandwich. Or shove it in your mouth straightaway, as I did.
- The key to stretching one piece of cheese very far is to slice it up and put it at opposite corners (or, well, sides, as it were) of your board. Personally, I like to slice it on the diagonal because, I don’t know, it just looks more like cheese that way. But you do you.
- The gold foil on said cheese is exactly that—gold foil. I was so excited to see that this particular wedge of very inexpensive cheese was being sold all wrapped up like that. So I grabbed it and just sliced it in a way that kept the foil on. Is it practical? No. Is it a choking hazard? Probably. But does it photograph well?
YOU BETCHA.
I just really wanted to use that gif.
There’s a video below in case you’d like a little help figuring out the whole cookie-cutters-on-cheese thing, but I think you should be good to go from here. As always, tag me or send me a message on Instagram if you end up making this! I’d love to see it.
