hanukkah tablescape time!!!!!!
please ignore that piece of white fluff to the right of the table.
i have no idea what it is or how it got there.
let’s talk about how all this prettiness came to be: this year, i wanted to create a scene that felt sophisticated, grown-up, and un-ironic but also whimsical and fun. that’s sort of how i want everything on the blog to feel, actually—somewhere in that colorful, happy space between way-too-over-the-top and wait-but-did-you-even-try.
hence…the disco balls!! i got them on amazon in a few different sizes and i think they really livened things up. without them, the table would’ve felt pretty serious, i think—more like a sad stately dinner than a party party.
and hanukkah, as we all know, is a party party.
in fact, those disco balls were the FIRST thing i bought…and the rest of the scene was created by working around them. that’s why i opted for a silver-and-blue theme rather than diving into the traditional golds—i was playing off the disco vibe.
from there, i played around with non-traditional blues, starting with the cinderella-y runner. it’s available on amazon and ships quickly, so it’s a great last-minute option…which is why i’ve gotten a ton of stuff from the same manufacturer over the years. love that it’s chiffon, that it’s not a full-on tablecloth, and that it can be “crumpled up” a little. it just makes the whole vibe a little less stiff and a little more organic.
next up: the not-so-little details! these gorgeous star-shaped votive holders from Peace Love Light Shop are my favorite part of the whole table. they have a beautiful distressed quality and organic feel to them, and come in a set of several different shades. i also used PLL’s burlap hanukkah banner on the wall behind my table and scattered their silver dreidels throughout. such a cute find. last but not least, i added silver gelt (bit of an oxymoron, i know) to all my food platters and to the individual settings for an extra pop of shine.
oh and the blue cups!! i went with these double old fashioned glasses from sur la table (that TEXTURE!), and added in my favorite vintage coupe glasses from williams sonoma. i think these ones are so pretty that i keep them out on my bar cart all year long.
speaking of which, i have been meaning to do an apartment tour and will try to get to that after the holiday craziness has subsided.
aaaand of course, all of that good stuff was supplemented by the projects you guys have seen me posting about over the last few weeks, all of which can be found in the hanukkah section!
i hope this is helpful to you guys as you put together your own hanukkah parties and get-togethers this season! as always, if you’re inspired by any of these ideas, tag me on social or shoot me a note / DM so i can take a look—i love love love seeing what you come up with.
