it’s here! passover is here. finally / already.
how did that happen?
i wanted to quickly pop in to say hello and thank you to all of the readers, new and old, who have made their way here to the blog over the past few weeks. it means the world that you’ve trusted me to help you make the most of your virtual seders, and it’s impossibly cool to watch so many of you poke around the site. here’s hoping you’ll stick around once when we’re out of this twilight zone for more inspiration, projects, and fun.
also!
a quick word to all of my followers, friends, and family members who plan to remain quarantined or isolated for tonight’s seder (particularly to those who are going it *totally* alone):
i want you to know that i couldn’t admire you more.
lemme say that one more time: i could not admire you more.
i’m proud to know you, and proud to be in your ranks.
i hope this night reminds each of us to never again take for granted an ordinary meal, an ordinary dinner, an ordinary day, or an extraordinary one.
i hope we can all try to appreciate the very real, very profound togetherness of our being alone this week.
and i hope we’ll realize that the initial disappointment of a passover apart—because, admittedly, there’s plenty of disappointment—doesn’t have to stretch all the way through to the last night of the holiday.
lastly, while i’m here, i thought i’d share a few things that have inspired me lately…just to keep you smiling through the week.
this clip of leonard cohen singing “bird on a wire.”
a piece of my favorite ballet score.
some summery joy.
these israeli medics dancing.
this tiny slice of calm.
this subway car filled with flowers.
this perfect, sunlit, just-fancy-enough room.
this, for real peace.
an ode to the kindness of strangers.
a feel-good, silky-smooth skating video.
love this video about forgiveness.
these words: “run away from a man who can’t handle your ambition. run.” (from this brilliant essay by reese witherspoon.)
these flowers, which are made entirely of paper. all of them. crazy, right?
some thoughts on endings.
and beginnings.
and bar refaeli eating an ice cream bar.
on fearlessness, in spite of, and because of, everything.
oh, and THIS…this is quite honestly the best thing i’ve seen in weeks and weeks.
a magical scene that my sister and i have always been obsessed with.
this is just SMILEY.
this “new york times cooking comments” account. each one is a gem.
see? they just make me so darn happy.
a note on energy and positivity from my friend natalie.
this might be my favorite of the balcony concerts.
okay. PHEW. i think that’s it.
chag sameach to all! stay healthy, strong, and optimistic, friends. and keep tagging away.
with love,
