A simple, easy-to-make appetizer for Rosh Hashanah and beyond.
Ingredients
8 ounces white cheddar cheese, freshly shredded (pre-shredded cheese won’t be malleable enough)
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup chives, diced
1/2 cup flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped
2 teaspoons onion powder
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Paprika, for dusting
Pretzel stick (for “stem”)
Mint sprig (for “leaves”)
Instructions
Combine the cheddar cheese, cream cheese, chives, parsley, and onion powder in a large bowl using a hand mixer.
Use your hands to shape the mixture into an apple-like shape. press down into the top using your thumb to create an indentation. Chill for 45 minutes.
Roll the chilled “apple” carefully in paprika until it’s fully coated.
Chill for another hour. Add pretzel and mint sprig; serve with a cheese knife (it’ll be sturdy enough to hold its shape, but too firm to handle crackers alone).
