…or, simply the MOST delicious way to kick this awful year to the curb.
RugelUGH? R-UGH-elach? Title’s still up for debate. Sheer adorability is not.
Okay, so there isn’t too much to this tutorial, and in fact, I’m not even sure I can call it a tutorial. For starters, I didn’t make the rugelach that serve as the base for these rugelUGHs; I got them from Breads Bakery here in New York City, because their rugelach are my absolute all-time favorite. Croissant-like, puffy, yeast-based dough slathered with Nutella—a little different than the classic crumbly cookie you might already know and love. It’s a good different, though. They’re insanely good.
I just added letters using these cookie cutters and vanilla fondant, which you can buy or make, then lay each one on top of the rugelach and…that was it. No need to “affix” the letters to the cookie or anything like that, unless you plan on, like, taking them on a great journey or slinging them around your home with wild abandon. In which case, you might want to pipe some icing beneath each cookie to give it a firmer “grip” on the cookie.
Speaking of piped icing, the stuff would work beautifully in place of the fondant altogether. (I know there are a lot of fondant haters out there.)
(I secretly love it.)
(SUE ME.)
Anyway…that’s it, you guys! That’s my final project post of 2020. Fitting, no?
I’m unveiling something fun and different for the new year in the next few days, so you’ll wanna make sure you’re following me on Insta so you don’t miss it. In the meantime, happy almost 2021 to you! WE DID IT! Almost! Sending you the most love.
